Hopefully im posting in the proper area, if not i apologize - I recently was just waking the boat up from the winter and making sure everything is working properly. The trim on the outdrive goes down great, but only goes up for about 2 seconds and stops. If i use the TRAILER TRIM it will bring the outdrive all the way up...Just won't go up from the throttle control - I did change all the fluids in the outdrive and trim fluids, but nothing out of the ordinary - any help would be appreciated.

Unless I am mistaken that is what it is supposed to do. The trim limit switch stops the outdrive from going up too far. Check the manual for the trim limit adjustment. If it does not go up far enough, one of two things might be wrong: either the limit switch is not adjusted properly, or it has a bad spot on the contact surface which causes it to stop before it should.

Re: OUTDRIVE TRIM Question

Here is a little thing on adjusting the trim limit: http://www.mercstuff.com/trim_limit.htm
The switch is a brass contact arm held in fixed position by the bellhousing pivot pin and a copper strip in the switch housing bolted to the gimbal ring. When down, the arm contacts the strip, and as the outdrive is raised the strip moves across the contact until it ends and contact is broken, stopping the trim pump. You should be able to carefully disassemble the switch and clean it. Couple of things if you have not already tried them: when the trim up stops, try bumping it up a little with the trailer and try trim again, to see if you can get past the bad spot. Mark the position of the switch, loosen the adjustment screws and run it back and forth a few times to "clean it up". I do run on LOL. Anyway good luck.
