Got to the boat launch today and I was unable to tilt the motor down. The pump runs, however the drives does not move. If you push the up button it sounds like the pump is fully loaded in the up position, down... the motor just runs.

The resovoir appears to be about half full.

Boat was fine 2 weeks ago, no visible corrosion, lines are in good shape, never given me any trouble before this.

I would think if the RAM was jammed up it would be making a fully loaded sound.

Where shoud I start looking to track this down?

stand on the drive while someone tilts it down

when the drive is in the full down position, top off the resivior and tilt up/down a few times and re-check the level/look for leaks

Nope,... Down is the low pressure side,... It never overloads...

As noted, have somebody Jump on it...

spray the rams with a light oil. have someone stand on the drive being careful to keep away from pinch points.
trim it down.
the genII trim rams are bad about the caps swelling in salt water and grabbing the rams. problem gets worse if stored with the drive up.
sometimes you can free them up, other times you replace caps and or cylinder assys.

Stood on the drive while running pump down, nothing.

Removed RAMS from outdrive ran pump down, nothing, neither RAM moved at all.

Removed grey feed line from pump to see if pump moves oil when pressed down, shot a nice stream of 40w all over the engine. Guess I know the pump works at least.

Outdrive moves freely up and down without RAMS attached.

Could it be a block in the down line? Pressure relief valve not allowing enough pressure to retract RAM?

Not sure if the pump oil has ever been changed, possible I have a blockage somewhere downline?
