outdrive?

I just got an early Grady White and I'm trying to ID what kind of outdrive I have. I've never owed an inboard/outboard before. The motor is a Chevy 5.7. The outdrive is painted white with a sticker that says V-6. To raise the drive up and down appears to be gear driven from the left side of the drive if your looking at the transom.

If it's white it would be an OMC drive, not Mercruiser. The 5.7 engine is a V-8. The drive is marked V-6???? Does it have a large black rubber membrane around the transom/drive? If so it is an old OMC. What year is the boat? There should be a hull serial number stamped on the upper right corner of the transom. Two of those numbers denote the year of manufacture.

Is the Engine Painted red, and white gear trim outdrive???? Maybe a volvo!!!
