I have an 2004 Searay 185 with an alpha 1 gen 2 outdrive. I hit a stump and damaged the transom assy. I have a new one so I am trying to remove the old one.

I have removed the engine, and the inner plate. The outer plate is stuck. I expected this piece to just fall off after reading the directions.

What would hold the transom outer plate in place other than the 6 bolt? Are there any tips to remove the outer plate?

Thanks
Chris

Sometimes they do get stuck, and need to be 'helped' off....

An update,
I tried a sledge hammer when that failed I ended up removing all the studs from the transum.
I found 4 studs were bent, I am assuming that is what was holding it on. It fell on the ground when I took the last stud out.

Bent studs mean the original holes were not drilled square to the transom... ie, a drilling template wasn't used and the installed couldn't hold a drill straight
