outobuard transport

Hi.
I have to travel app. 70 miles each way to my fishing spot, sometimes it's 140 miles each way if we go to the bigger loughs. I usually tie my 10Hp 2-stroke Mariner to the back of the front seat (upright) but want to build a wooden frame to hold the outboard in the boat flat. Which way can I lay it? With the transom bracket facing upwards or downwards?

Hi, Brian.

Welcome to iboats. :)

With 2 stroke engines it really doesn't matter much. To protect the tiller handle and control knobs, etc. I usually transport them with the transom bracket up.
Good luck. :)

Hi JB.
Thanks for the help. I like your photo. Is that a Northern Pike? What weight is it? That's what my friend and I fish for...every week almost. The Irish Pike. You're a very lucky man.

Brian

That is a musky, Brian, esox masquinongy, cousin to your pike, esox lucius. We didn't weigh it, but I would guess about 27-30lb.
