have an old g.e. electric oven/stove top in the kitchen. has always worked fine. yesterday, my little one almost burned her hands from touching the front. i checked it out- the entire oven was very hot. was just running the oven at 400 deg at the time.

what would cause this? never noticed it before- the front would get warm, but not this hot.

thanks-

Re: oven

Hi, Mattttt.

Sounds like the insulation in the oven door has settled. If it's old, it might be asbestos. Don't open it (take the door apart).

Might be time for a new drop-in unit.

Good luck. :)

Re: oven

My old (20 year) GE electric oven vents across the front. It can get fairly hot when the temp is past 350.
