Hi guys. Johnson 112 spl, just went through complete powerhead rebuild, new water pump and 2 new thermostats. New prop (4bld 17") has motor wot about 5300rpm (gps shows 45mph) Very happy with overall performance. While running out to fishing ground sat, had overheat alarm come on,,,, immediately dropped rpms to 7-800 (idle) 1 min later, alarm is off. I am varying the rpm's alot while driving (breakin), and alarm indicator would only come on in real high rpm range (+5200) ,,, while cruising at 4-5k,,,, no alarm at all. Is this a concern, or is it a new rebuild condition?
didnt have temp gun with me, ill take it next time
thank you, joe

If it is actually overheating it is a big concern. Need to see if the engine is actually over heating or you have an electrical problem, maybe a wackey sensor.

what I meant was "I dropped the rpm down to idle when alarm came on"
I should proof read my posts! I wasnt too concerned cause the alarm cleared. Must mean cooling system is working ok and alarms are functioning IM thinking?
