i have a 94 120hp evinrude vro. the other day i was out and started the motor the horn sounded and then the overheat horn sounded and wouldn't go off. the motor had not been running for about 1/2 hour. water was coming out the pee hole and the compression check show 120lp per piston. i put a new overheat switch on it and the horn stopped. could it just have been the switch?

Yes, the overheat thermoswitch can fail. they can short to the motor ground, and the alarm will sound.<br />You probably cured it.Just keep an eye on it for a while.

A quick test. When the motor has been running for a while you should be able to place your hand on the engine block without getting burned. It should be hot like coffee but not burn you. Good luck.
