Check for gas line leaks (hose, fitting & use the proper OMC hose clamps), prior to the VRO

A fuel restriction can cause this. Check the anti-siphon valve in the fuel tank, if you are running on a built in tank. Also the in line filter , if it has one, and the primer bulb. Using the test procedure outlined in the manual, using a pressure, and vacuam guage is a good way to go.

What kind of day-time temps are you dealing with this time of year????
You may need to pierce the diaphram in the VRO tank cap....

Fixed my problem fellers, there is a pump under the VRO with a tire valve in it. There is a red adjustable knob on it.This had come loose and was causing the engine to run super rich. Also replaced all fuel lines, primers, clamps and filters.Engine has found another 400 rpm, and never run better. might have to reprop. Thanks for all your input.
CHEERS DAVO.....
FROM SUNNY DOWN UNDER..

The reason I mentioned this was because I had a customer with a 28ft pontoon with a 115 Rude with VRO, and after the boat would set from one weekend to the next, there would be oil running down the leg and to start the engine, I had to drain the carb bowls of oil...
I discussed this with seahorse at the time, and he is the person that recommended this, but only after some other trouble-shooting, and it worked as he said it would, and if I can't find any other issues as out-lined in the manual, and have the same symptoms, yes, i'll do it again.
seahorse knows the VRO systems better than anyone I know, and I think he would tell you the same if all other items checked good...
