I see alot of questions here about overpowering a boat. I am writing this to help out, please add to this if you see something I missed.

Before you ask this question, please read.

Is overpowering safe? I see alot of this question. The answer is that if you are a VERY experienced boater, you may choose to get a little creative with your boat setup. But this is very dangerous for the inexperienced and ignorant.

Only you know your boat, we cant see it, do not know the history of the boat, or what shape the boat is in, nor do we know what kind of operator you are. SO WE CAN NOT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SAY THAT IT IS OK.

In many states, including my home state of Arkansas, it is illegal to overpower a boat from the USCG recommended hp.

Some insurance companies will not cover a boat that is over rated.

In short I am saying, DO NOT ASK US IF IT IS OK! It is your boat and your a$$ if something goes wrong. You do what you are comfortable doing.

Also dont get upset with someone if they tell you NO, just because it was not the answer you where looking for.
