I have a 96 johnson 50 hp I was checking it out the other day getting it ready for duck season. it started out fine ran for 20 min no prob. Today started, ran for a few minutes at idle when it was tilted up, tilted it down and when i did started blowing a lot more smoke. kept running though. I idled it up a little for about a min. When i idled down it didnt respond actually started idling faster turned key off nothing kept running pretty fast as well. disconnected battery fuel etc finally got it shut down. Any ideas on what is causing this?
