Overall paint

I?m in the process of painting a 16 ft aluminum boat. I was wondering since this boat is on a trailer and only in water for a day or two when I?m out fishing?could I paint the entire boat with above waterline paint?

And should a clear boat be added afterward? Thanks!

I don't know anything about aluminum boats but I have a fiberglass boat and I am painting the bottom with topside paint because I too trailer the boat. I understand topside can be used if the boat is in the water for a max of 3 days at a time.

Clear coating the paint depends on the paint. A good marine grade topside paint does not need a clear coat. It will only give it shine so buy a gloss paint.
