Have measured at the battery and on dash voltmeter, battery is brand new marine battery 600cca, when first started and at idle sits on around 12.5v then after about 10 seconds and using the throttle it will climb up to 16v around 5000rpm.
Engine is a 1995 DT30c, 30hp - and I'm pretty sure it's regluated, all cables tight and good, no burning on rectifier, bulging battery, carbon'd battery posts etc. - is running perfect! I understand after searching forums on here it is VERY common on Johnno's and Mercs to charge up to 18v with no problems - i.e. unregulated for years with no problems...
My electronics are all fine, i.e aren't shutting down due to over-voltage. Any ideas?? A new rectifier/regulator here in New Zealand is a ridiculous amount of money. As stated the battery is absolutley FULLY charged, as I charged it overnight when I first got it, it's a standard cranking battery not deep cycle.
Thanks in advance for your help.
