Overheat and water coming out of the upper exhaust port

Hello, today i replaced the water pump and two new thermostats on my 2003 Mercury 2.5L 200hp EFI engine. When i started the motor, the water would come out of the exhaust port but not the pee hose and it would overheat within 5mins.. . i opened up the thermostats ports but couldn't see water coming out of it. seem like something is blocking or stopping the water from reaching the cylinders heads. I am thinking its my popet valve is stuck?

I’m thinking (going by your picture) this is because you are using the fresh water flushing port, is maybe the reason ?
have you tried running it to see ?

the hole is on there but the water isn't turn on. i was trying to flush to see if it will fix it.

revisit your waterpump work. If it worked before it should work now.
