Hey guys, I have been reading a lot about overheat warning alarms and was wondering if a 1979 70 hp Evinrude even has one. Looked at a parts manual and couldn't find it there. What would you do if it hasn't got one? Still new to this but am learning lots on this board. Thanks for all the help.

Yep, your motor should have one. Look at head cover in the parts list. That's where the sensor is. Look at your motor and there should be a tan wire coming out of the head cover. The alarm itself is either in the controls box or under the boat dash.

It should have one. The alarm is in the throttle/shift control and the sensor is in the cylinder head. The sensor should have a single tan (maybe black) lead coming out of it. Ground that with the key on (engine not runniing) and you should hear a really annoying alarm.
