Many thanks to Eurolarva and Roscoe for help getting my Force 85 running after electrical challenges- out on lake yesterday, ran flawlessly - lots of wind and chop but I still got 40 mph on my Bayliner Capri- I'm happy!

The launch I use has a rather extended distance to open water that requires no wake running for about 5 minutes..yesterday also had about 5 more minutes idling to jockey back and forth waiting for a space...right at the end the overheat siren went off and I shut everything down....is this to be expected? Anything I can check to ensure idle/low speed cooling is OK? Running at moderate or full throttle doesn't seen a problem at all.

Thanks for all the past help and thanks in advance this time.

how new is your impeller? maybe worn? not creating enough flow at slow speeds?

just a thought.

I had an '86 that did the same thing. In a bind, I would just rev the engine to get more water flowing and the temp would go down. I replaced the impeller the following weekend and it solved the problem.
