Hi, do i remember someone (might have been don.s ) posting a cooling system fault finding guide? I have twin merc 4.3 lx's with alpha one drive 1988 vintage (RWAC) one gets to warm underway, the other i have no guage reading. I want to do a logical fault finding check. Also the control cables are getting stiff, can i change these by simply ensuring they go on at exactly the same positions as the old ones came off or do i have to go through a set up procedure?

I don't know of any fault finding guides, other than the OEM service manuals, and they don't give you a step-by-step procedure.
The most common problems with RW cooled engines causing overheat are Impeller, thermostat, and manifolds/risers plugging up.
The impellers should be replaced after 2 years of service.
