overheating?

16 ft 1985 thundercraft 140 hp merc I O engine runs fine for 30 or 40 minutes then stalls and wont start? it has both gas in carb, and spark at plugs. after 10 or 15 minutes it will start again. could it he a overheating problem?cant check gauge, none of the gauges are in working order. how can i tell if its the impeller? :eek:

Well, it could be an overheating problem if the engine was getting REALLY hot and then vapor-locking.....But I suspect you'd know it.


You probably still have a fuel delivery problem though. Filter, fuel pick-up screen (plugged), fuel tank vent plugged (or almost completely plugged)

I would start there. I'd fix those gages too.....

i replaced the fuel vent, also there is gas at the carb when it shuts down N/S, only thing i have not replaced is fuel pickup , i could not get the metal screw to come out of the poly tank/ it just turned . thank you for your answer.
