Hi all,
I am a noob so bear with me. I have an 86 Stratos 180 VT (tunnel hull) with an 89 200XP Evinrude. Skyjacker manual jackplate. I know the boat is over motored slightly. The prop I have on is a Shooter SS 13??27pp 4 blade. Here is the issue, WOT I'm running around 4500 RPM and porpoising with the motor trimmed up or down or anywhere in between. A whale tail improves the bouncing but not RPM's. I guess what I want to know is, would a different prop improve the situation? If so, what pitch?

Look at the first entry (right now it is) "What You Need to Know About Props".....to get your answer.

If all you are trying to do is stop porposing try some smart tabs....there are other benefits to the tabs as well.

Smart Tabs-no. A 22 pitch 3 blade Raker or Laser-yes.

You want 5500 rpm at WOT.

Thanks for directing me to that thread Texasmark. That is very useful indeed! Thanks for your input too Prince and jestor, I will consider them both. However, like jestor pointed out, the WOT should be much higher RPM's than what I currently get. Hopefully soon I can white-knuckle across the lake!
