Owner's Manuals and Receipts

Why do so many people throw away their owner's manuals and receipts? So many people spend so much money on electrical products, from pumps to nav systems, and don't bother to save these documents. Every time I make a major purchase I staple the receipt to the owner's manual and file it away. If I need a part in the future, the manual with an explosion diagram of all parts is there, with the receipt in case there is any doubt about warranty claims. How much do you really want to trust your retailer????

I do exactly the same thing. In our one little file cabnet at the house there is a hanging folder that says simply "Boat Receipts". It is buldging. Sometimes its just good to know where you got an out of warranty product just because the original vender may be able get replacement parts.

Thom

Me too.
I've got books for more than 25 years back for every mechanical device I've bought.
Staple the receipt to the book and end of warranty problem.
When I have sold some stuff I give the literature away at the same time to the new owner as well.
My wife says I dont sell enough stuff though and she keeps threatening to clean out my side of the garage where HER car is parked. Figger that out!!

Peter

Got a 1985 Johnny 25 owner's manual and the paperwork from the purchase. Sold that engine with the boat in 1999.

Hey! I may need it someday! :D
