Looking at purchasing a boat with a 2000 Yamaha Ox66 150hp. The previous owner states that the impeller for the water pump hasn't been changed for 3 years and that the o2 sensor hasn't been cleaned in two.

While I know that if I purchase the boat, I will have to go for a new impeller, t-stats, VST filter, and possibly clean (if not a new) o2 sensor at this point.

The question is, if I complete all of the required maintenance, will his previous inattention to detail be a problem for me?

By the way Rodbolt, I saw in an earlier post your were an FC in the Navy. What system did you work on?

CIWS
block 1.
nec 1121, was working on a harpoon NEC when my career was abrutly teminated :)
no worries, just be aware when you get it its time for VST filter,O2 sensor and pressure valve,t-stats and waterpump maint. plus the remote oil filter and any other maint that has not been done including the engine tank sensor maint.
none is hard, some require a speacail tool or two, none that are expensive. depends on how much you wish to learn, how much you wish to do and how much time ya got.

Sea-Wiz, Nice. I always wanted to mount one of those in the back of my Pick-up. I could guarentee that tailgaiting would no longer be a problem.

Thanks for the advice as always...

Ex-SPY-1 FC
