every year i've had the boat professional sealed with shrink plastic (heavy blue stuff). i know when i gave the boat to the shop it was cleaned and the deck (fiberglass) was not oxidized.

we'll we uncovered it today and i'm very disappointed. the fiberglass deck is heavily oxidized and black specs (that i associate with acid rain).

did my (competant) service leave this boat out ofr a month before they sealed in the fall or has anyone had their boat oxidize (heavily) over the winter under the shrink wrap!?!?!

i'm not going to complain to the shop as i think they do a great job, but it's dirty enough to make me think they were neglient with my little crappy 21' cruiser. i just want to recommend to them in the fall to not delay...if anyone thinks this is unusual.

thanks all.

Hard to say. Mine oxidizes whether the cover is on or not, whether it is in the garage or not. You may just want to make sure you have several coats of a good marine polish on the upper surfaces after you buff it back out.

I like to leave a coat of wax on over the winter and take it off in the spring.Just make sure it is soft, easy to remove type of wax.Charlie
