In slightly on a V bottom, out on a tunnel. From 1/16 to 3/16. Make sure the motors are centered on the lifting strakes if possible (V bottom) or center the gearcases in the corner of the sponsons (tunnel).

Tell us more about your ride!

Make sure the port engine lines up with the lifting strake. We have had trouble with the port engine on the Scorpions and Scarrabs getting "airiated" water.

Toe them in slightly. Very cool boat!

Re: paging dhadley!!!!

i'll check that when i pull the boat next month (currently stored in the water).

don't know how much lee way there is in this as the brackets are mounted to the transom and they (the brackets) have predrilled mounting holes. i can say they are on 26" centers.

previous owner had transom mounted transducer with a wedge ahead of the ducer that is just inboard of the starbord motor which could upset water flow there.

Re: paging dhadley!!!!

If the bracket is already there youre kinda stuck. Just keep an eye on the port water pressure. If it fluxuates then its getting airiated water. Watch the temp.

You are correct about the transducer....you dont want anything in front of the motor to about 12" on either side. If it were mine, I'd put the transducer inside and let it read thru the hull.

Is one gearcase counter rotating?

Re: paging dhadley!!!!

unfortunately no they both rotate the same way - oh well....

the sounder that was using that ducer died and i have another unit installed which is "shoot thru" - just haven't gotten around to removing the old one yet. any suggestions how i should remove the wedge ahead of the ducer? appears to be glued on, but thats trying to look through 15 years of bottom paint!

since you mention a 12" clearance to anything, then could/would the port side tab be close enough to upset the flow? (since this is the one used the most)by the way, the motors are "all the way down" on the bracket, so the drives are buried in the water as far as possible. motors were one set of holes "up" when i bought it and i dropped it down to its current position which prevented the prop aereation experienced before.
