OK, here we go...First, motor came with the boat so I'm doing my best not to throw it in the lake. Started having problems at low rpms early this season then while running WOT a couple of weeks ago she just lost a cylinder. Compression checked out but after I got home I realized the batt was dead. Marine mech said "You have to have one hell of a batttery for that motor to run right". OK, new battery. Put the muffs on in the back yard and one of the mechs (I live across the street from a marine shop) came over. She fired right up on all three. Tested the rectifier and it was good. He adjusted the low idle a bit. "Should be good to go." Took her out to the lake last night and fired right up but then died while warming up. Couldn't get her to fire for a while then it started so off we go. Lacking on power I knew something was still wrong. After I shut her down, she'd start again but die as soon as I put her in gear. Plugs and wires are good. Gas is new. What now? I've heard from more than one mech that this motor is a pain.

a mdl. and ser.no. would be nice, at least it would help I.D. the eng so a "best guess" would be possible.

Hi Chuncky<br />All models of motor can be a pain if you don't unerstand the in's and out's of them. Basicly your's is no more of a pain than any other. How ever the parts to make repairs can be a bit costly. This fact tends to cause guys to do a half a job when servicing and prepairing these models for reg service. Since most guys don't take time to study the systems, spend the money for a through job, the continue to be pleuged with problems until they give up. My suggestion is to obtain a manual that covers this model, study it, then you will have a better idea of what you are facing. It doesn't make sence to dump a new batt into a system with shot wiring, etc.

Why is it that when I have the muffs on in the back yard, she fires right up but when I drop her in the lake, it takes forever to get going?
