paint question

i have a boat that has the vin painted over. i can barely see any of it. i don't think sanding is a good idea, so what should i use to remove the paint. the hull is white and was repainted white 3 yrs ago. thanks for any help.

I've had good luck with Lacquer thinner and a toothbrush.

Lacquer thinner is also a solvent for Bellows Adhesive when doing work with that fun stuff.

You can get drywall sanding sponges at Lowes or HomeDepot that work great also
