I have this Tidecraft boat. It looks like they put a hard clear coat on the blue strip. There aren't any issues on the sides below the top blue trim. Now it has turned milky and flaking. I tried Lacquer remover and paint remover but didn't do anything. I started sanding with 220 grit and it takes it off. Should I continue to sand it off or is there a remover?. When I am finished what do you recommend I re-coat it with?. I have sprayed lacquer before on truck and cabinets.

There are many types of paint .. just depends on what you want to spend .. I’ve been using single stage polyurethane here lately with good results .. There’s rusto topside paint , epoxy paints , enamel with added hardener .. Take your pick !
I’d stay away from latex though ...

I personally used Interlux Brightside one part polyurethane... I think it worked very well.. I rolled and tipped it with very good results but it can also be sprayed but uses a different thinner. I also used their primer which i would also recommend...

I've also dabbled with the rustoleum topsides paint, I didn't like it as much as the interlux and it doesn't seem to cure as hard, but its definitely cheaper.
