paint removal

as i mentioned in another persons thread ...like to remove the rustoleum paint on my hull. any ideas on how to best do this or should i just not bother. which brings me to my next question....can 40 year old gel coat be restored to its original shine?

As long as its still adhering good, no need to totally remove it, sand it, fair it, sand it again, prime and repaint.

Not likely to get 40 year old gel back to original. Most likely it was already broken down and painted. The only way to really tell is to try it....
