is it safe to use paint remover on a outboard leg? getting ready for a new paint job....james

I did mine with circa 1850, and it worked. It was slow going though since it just turned the enamel and primer gummy rather than lifting it. You'll have to either remove or be really careful around rubber or plastic parts. It'll melt fiberglass before you know it!

I used Aircraft paint remover and a putty knife on mine and then took a hand sander to it. It was slow going and fun when I got it on my leg.

That spray-on Aircraft remover (it's name) is pretty good stuff. Stays where you spray it. I used Aircraft remover, then removed it and the paint with a power washer. Still need some sanding, though.
