I recently purchased an 89' chaparral 198. The hull is in perfect shape exept that the maroon portion of the two-tone paint job is badly clowded/faded. What can I do to try and bring the color back out? :(

Re: Paint Restoration

Hiddy E. Galvez,
I'm not familiar with your boat but I'll try to help out. Do you know if the faded maroon is paint or gelcoat? First I'd try buffing it out. Next would be a clear coat and last would be a re-paint. Meguiar makes all sorts of buffing/polishing materials that go from course (fast cutting) compound ta wax. That's the stuff I'd use. Keep us posted how ya make out.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty
