Does painting/coating an anode effect the efficiency or life of the anode assuming there is a good connect between the anode and base metal?

Re: Painted Anodes?

The anode must also have a good connection to the surrounding water. Painting it seals that out.

Re: Painted Anodes?

The purpose of an anode is to redirect corrosion, it is intended to corrode easily so by painting it you will make any corrosion find the next easiest spot to set up shop, which means the hull or engine so NO don't paint it.

As stated clean it of and make sure it has good contact with the hull or engine.

Painting the anode will greatly extend its service life......which is a bad thing.:)
You shouldn't do it.
