Hi guys,
Just wanted to update you on my progress on my painting of 70hp Chrysler. Thanks to this forum I got a seal kit and water pump kit installed and water tested, works perfect, no leaks!
Now for the paint. I decided to paint the motor on the boat. I have so many other projects and my wife is at the end of the rope with "That Boat" as she calls it. I have some pictures to share and a flavor for what it may look like I peeled the tape back to give you a hint on the previously faded gold trim.
I used Rustoleum plastic paint for the trim color and I just sprayed Rustoleum Auto quality paint (white) for the main color. I have Rustoleum Zinc (93%) zinc primer that will go on the mid/LU after I finish degreasing and wiping with acetone, then 50/50 water/vinegar. I'm pretty excited about the transformation. As you can see, the motor has had better days visually. But it starts and runs beautifully for an old girl with plenty of power.
The little runs you see on the top will be sanded down, painting at night is hard. Not looking for perfect, just refreshed.
