Probably should ask this in the Repair and restoration forum. But you need to place a budget on "the best", there are paints that will cost less than $50.00 and higher than $300.00 for the same job.

I didnt pay but $100 for the boat so I would like the keep the cost down as low as possible. I will ask in the repair section. Thanks

I am wanting to paint my 14ft fiberglass jon boat for duck hunting and was wondering what kind of paint would be best. Anything special as far as prep work? The hull is in decent shape. I only spent $100 on the boat last year and am not wanting to spend to much on a paint job and its gonna be a duck boat so it doesn't need to be perfect

Get a camo paint kit from almost any outdoors box store.

I am using tractor and implement paint with the hardener add to it. You can brush it on and it will dry with little brush strokes showing. Just light sand and put on another coat. I will put on three coats and sand to a smooth finish and then I will clear coat mine, but for a duck boat you do not need all that shine. Ace hardware has Valspar paint and the hardener. About 20.00 a gallon for paint and 25.00 for enough hardener for the gallon if you need a whole gallon. Good Luck!

Sand with 220 grit sand paper and wipe it down with the cleaner Valspar recommends and it will work fine.

Probably best to have this topic either here or the restoration section, but not both. IMO, in the resto section, where you've gotten a few replies as well would be better....Painting a fiberglass boat
