I painted the same boat with a "mono-epoxy"enamel paint .I think it was made by Petit.Came out great and lasted forever!!Any 1 part epoxy should yeild the same results.

Man you are bringing back memories with that Lone Star.

I had an alum boat (18' I/O) painted and they used epoxy paint (2 part). The hull was first sandblasted then painted without primer.

Lasted for 15 years that I knew of and looked as good as the day it was painted.

Thing you want to do is get the corrosion off the alum before painting so that the paint will stick to the alum....so that means sanding or sandblasting (if you have someone that knows how to blast aluminum). Also you need to get a good chemical cleaner to get all the oil and grease and stuff off also. Course if you blast it, that takes care of everything and leaves a nice pitted surface to accept the paint and hold on to it.

Mark
