Painting a ''plastic'' fairing, but not sure if it's ABS, resin, etc

I've included a pic. It's not a pliable piece of plastic. It is rather rigid and rattles if you rap your knuckles on it. The raw color is dull yellowish. The white paint is peeling, revealing that lovely dull yellow.

With what can I paint this fairing?. I am prepared to sand, smooth, prime and paint, if necessary. Not sure I am just looking at a Krylon plastic paint or something else.

Thanks.

Umm... well, I was kind of saying that I don't know what the effort is to do it right, but I don't know enough to weigh my options.

I've painted R/C models with a spray can and drove them through mud bogs at 45 MPH, so I am not working from a premise that says a spray can is always wrong. For all I know, I could get answers that indicate a simple fix will last five years. That's all I need.
