So I am gonna be sanding and painting my 65 starcraft. I don't need a professional job but want it to look good. I had a guy tell me to use a rattle can on it. Otherwise I'm gonna be buying an air compressor and paint gun to do it. I am thinking this would be the process. Sand it, prime it, paint it with spray can paint and then then use a clear coat on it. What do u all think? Also can you get a marine clear coat in a can? Thanks guys!

Find a post from Woodonglass. He has a link in his signature on painting a boar for under $100. No spray equipment needed

google/youtube:

roll & tip

roll & roll

depending on the patience of the painter, both can give you nearly spray quality paint jobs and you can still use an enamel hardener in the rolled paint

rattle cans will cost you a fortune

NO clear required

You don't want to leave the boat IN the water/moored/slipped for more then a couple of days. Trailer boating.....

I ended up having a friend of a friend do mine but I called a couple auto body shops and as long as I did the prep work the price to actually shoot it was pretty cheap. I think MAACO is a nationwide chain and if I supplied the paint I think they were going to charge me about $200 or $300.
