Painting Deck

Replaced my transom,stringers and deck.ready to install carpet.Should I paint deck before I install carpet,or can I glue it directly to resin without paint??

You can glue it directly to the resin. Poly and epoxy resin will break down in UV light, but it will be fine as long as it is covered with the carpet.

Personally I would not glue it down at all. I would gelcoat it with non-skid and call it done. Carpet can cause problems down the road.

Just make sure you get the proper adhesive. You need marine grade or outdoor grade carpet adhesive. I was sold all purpose and trust me, it wasn't all purpose. Just an all purpose mess.

No paint needed for under carpet. Glue carpet to cured resin.
