Re: painting propeller

Use self-etching primer (zinc oxide) and spray about 2 or 3 VERY light coats with ample dry time in between, then paint with whatever you want. If you don't get your primer right, it will peel off under the great pressure it's exposed to. I used automotive paint on mine with good luck but the primer base coat is the key for sure.

Agree on the primer. When I ran alum props the prop shop would paint over (no primer) the repairs and initially looked great, but the first time out you had this horrible looking prop with streaks of paint peeled off.

Another thing I hear is to ensure that it is good and dry before running.

Also, read the directions on the primer as some are different. Some want you to paint within a certain time of applying the last coat of primer, some want a light sanding between coats to insure adherence.

Don't know what brand of engine you have but the Merc Phantom Black Lacquer (in the rattle can) holds up real well.
