When the rain finally stops and the temperatures come up a few degrees then one of the many jobs I am planning is painting the ceiling of the front cabin which is now a very off white.
Is there any particular type of paint I should use or can I get away with household paint for bathrooms where there is a high humidity level.

You do not need to use marine paint on a boats interior.
I like using alkyd enamel on my boat. It is durable, and evens out nice.
Be sure to give everything a light sanding, and a coat of primer.

Re: Painting the ceiling

With all due respect to TD ans SB the only thing wrong with using oil base is that it does attract mold and mildew because it is a food source along with heat and moisture, all the improvements have been made in the latex's not knowing the surface you want to cover I would first do an alcohol test if the surface just shines up that means there it is oil base,if it is oil you would have 2 options primer with oil and go over with latex or just cover it with oil, but if the paint comes off on to the rag that means it is a latex and you can go over it with latex and I would use no less than a satin just for the wash ability aspect of it. Finally got the test done though it did seem like a bit of a waste of good alcohol not sure I will ever forgive myself for the waste.
I am going with a latex paint as thats what seems to be on already.
When you say Satin for washability do you mean an ordinary tin of Satin paint suitable for bathrooms etc.
Certainly cheaper than the ?24 the chandelry wanted for a 250ml tin of white paint.

Look for an exterior grade of vinyl.
If it's good for the outside of a house.....
Personally, I opt for semi-gloss for the cleanability aspect.
