Greetings all! I have a 14 foot aluminum Starcraft boat. I want to paint the inside and outside of the boat. What marine paint is good for aluminum?

Ok, im just gonna give you the skinny of it..

Whatever paint you chose, if you have bare aluminum, do yourself a favor and clean it 1st with phosphoric acid wash, then coat it with either alodyne, a self etching primer, or an epoxy primer....then your build primer and paint specific to the system you use

Then you wont be back here with a "why is my paint peeling" post ;)

Search Results from Aircraft Spruce

Or u can use a quality wash primer like ppg dx1791 and skip the alumiprep/alodyne or etch primer.

And as to another discussion going on here now about painting I suggest reading the Material Safety Data Sheets for any and all chemicals you might use before using them. Be informed and know what you are getting into.

I agree with all of the above.

Lots of Tinny's get painted here on the forum with all different kinds of methods. Some just shine em up and leave em bare!!!!

It all depends on what you're willing to pay, what kind of tools, skills, and the amount of effort you want to put into it. We can show you examples of just about all levels and the results that people have obtained. You provide us with how to want to proceed.;)
