Hello again all! It has been awhile since i have been on this forum, but i will be picking up a used boat in a couple weeks and have been brainstorming ideas and such for redoing the interior of it. Its a 20' with a small cuddy cabin. I want to take out all the old carpeting on the deck and paint it. I was thinking about not putting carpet back in and just using like a rubber (truck bed liner) roll on paint. I want to seal the deck and have a non slip surface. My question is what type of paint would be best for doing this? Or should i not do this at all? Thanks again in advance!

Any paint can be made non-slip by adding fine sand to it. There are also vinyl sheet products made for boat decks, as well as stickdown, non-slip strips, like some bathtubs have. I would put truck bed liner at the bottom of my list, and use anything else.

Thanks for the input! I figured bed liner paint would be easier and have more of a uniform pattern/texture to it than adding fine sand. And i figured between primer and painting it, it would seal the deck better than like vinyl strips? maybe not?

I am going to be looking into the same thing on my boat. I hate the carpet in side for fishing. Hooks are always getting stuck into it. I also want a deck that can be washed down completely and not hold the water against the wood.
