i finaly thought i was ready to start glue my nightshift project back together when..
the skids on the bottom of my boat are moulded in to it.on the inside this leaves agroove. into this groove it looks like the builder has put solid paper tube to give him an arch and them glassed over this to add strength .they run the full length of the boat. the paper is soaking wet.
any idea on how to dry the paper inside the glass tube. is driling holes in it ,injecting acetone and then letting it evaporate off a good idea

Re: paper ?

It is common to use paper/cardboard to provide a "template" or former to give fibreglass reinforcers their shape - it it the newly-created fibreglass strut which then provided the strength needed.

When the fibreglass is set, the paper serves no additional purpose. I guess there is a risk it will go mouldy, but other than that there would not appear to be any risk to the structural integrity. Drilling holes in the fibreglass could weaken the structure. So why not just leave the paper wet?
