Re: Paragon trannie V-drive. Water in fluid
PV-33R. I have a diagram, but no parts list or manual. Looks like there is only one place where water caould incur in the V-drive (top cover gasket where the water lines enter and exit). Main question right now is.....What type fluid do I use in the V-drive? if it's hypoid gear oil, I bet I can run it without the cooling water. After all, we don't have any kind of cooling on the rear differential of an automobile.
On the other hand, if it runs on tranny fluid, which has a much lower tolerance for heat, it may need the cooling. This V-drive just consists of a couple big gears on shafts which are supported by bearings. There are now clutch plates or bands, so it seems that gear oil would fit the bill.
