Part supercession for condenser

Hi,I ordered part m/qs 6324 condenser and I was sent 8m6001249. Will this condenser work and is it the proper part for my ignition? The old one looks different as it has an insulated strip of copper as a lead that is about 1/4 inch wide and slightly thicker than a piece of paper. engine ser 6681735. Thanks-B

I actually did a web search on that part number and seems it is a Mercury part number for their condenser. If this goes in the typical points type ignition setup, it should work without any issue. Condensers (capacitors) are there to help keep the points form arcing and pitting. So not much to worry about...

Thanks for the responses.The one on the link you provided FT looks totally different than the one in there now,but I think GM is probably right. The function is whats important.The one I have looks just like the one in the link by the way.I will stick it in and let you know if it doesn't run.Thanks again-B
