I went and bought a boat for parts on the weekend. The wife was the only one there and she told me her husband had had her and the kids out in it that summer, and "it ran well" until someone they knew flagged them down and told them the thing was going to sink. Well, wow... it is OMC stringer powered. The stringers were rotten and broken, and the guy had used chains, rope!, shackles, and wood blocks with screws to "remount" the engine. The intermediate hsg. was sticking about 4" out the back.. The boot had all sorts of glue and putty sealing huge rips and cracks!

As i was cutting the boat up, it just got scarier and scarier...tape on the fuel lines (which were severely cracked) bare wires hanging everywhere, screws in the fuse holders...

What an eye opener as to what we are sharing the waterways with....

the good news: a running 2.5 Liter and a rebuilt 400 drive for $140 (+ $75 landfill chg. for the hull).. Nice set of OMC gauges too...
