How helpful would a Ken Cook Parts Catalog be for me in maintaining and rebuilding my 1967 Johnson 6HP? Does it have good exploded views of assemblies and components?

TYVM
Bruce

Re: parts catalog

Out of couriousity, I checked the site and they go back to 1968 (is your last name Murphy?? :) ).
You can call them and ask them to send you a parts list possibly. Also parts lists are available on ebay (OMC patrs list) real cheap.
Good luck

Re: parts catalog

Angus, a Scottish name I expect. I have ancestors from Cape Breton and Nova Scotia.

Since from what I have seen there are few yearly changes, might a parts catalog for a 1968 be helpful?

My name is Bruce, another scottish name, and I have a son Robert Bruce.

Re: parts catalog

I don't think there's any significant differences between '68 and '67 as far as the 6hp goes.
Also, it seems to me the bombardier site is a little faster:
http://www.evinrude.com/en-US/Accessories/Engine.Diagrams.htm

That said, a parts manual isn't really all that helpful for rebuilding your 6hp. A OEM service manual would be though. Keep an eye on ebay - search:
(6, 6hp) (johnson, Evinrude) manual

I don't see any right now though. Just '66 and '69 manuals.

EDIT - Coming to you from a half-blood Caper!

Yep, I would be confident using the '68 parts list. Family is from Ayr, Scotland. Not sure who Red Green is. Good luck with the rebuild.
