parts compatability 25hp

localy there is someone selling parts ( lower unit , remote controls...etc) for a 1985 25hp Johnson model#j25elcdr. I have a 1979 model #25RL79R. can anyone tell me if the parts are compatable or better , direct me to a web page that can tell me? I have a feeling he has the whole engine but the top half is toast.

Will the lower unit bolt up to the 79?

clik engine diagrams on the link, floow the promts. you can compare all parts of both engines.
