Does anyone know where I can find parts for my 1955 15HP? There is a link at this site, but it only goes back to 1968 year models! I need to overhaul this engine, and I know some of these things are easy to find such as coils, but I need other parts as well.

Is there someplace to cross reference parts to the newer models? Is there anyone who sells parted out motors? I need a new cylinder head, as the cover mount casting on mine is broken. Ebay has some nice stuff, but I haven't seen what I'm looking for yet.

Thanks

you need the parts manual for your motor. ebay, or outboardbooks.com. then you can crossreference the #'s at ishopmarine.com. get the Sierra # and order from iboats store. just an example.

Cylinder head is part number 277211. Head gasket is 203247. The head is listed as no longer available. Try www.sea-way.com They have lots of NOS (new old stock) parts.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I just checked the Johnson part. Nope, sorry, it won't work. Neither will the Gale.

Re: Parts for pre 1960 Evinrude

Thanks for the info. The evinrude part was very specific to evinrude, as the mounts for the engine cover were cast into the head. The johnson engine cover was different, opening front to back and not side to side.

I appreciate the link though. In two months I'm heading back to the water again, so I need to get my motor into good running shape. I remember my first motor, I broke the handle, so I used a piece of wood to steer. I could keep the motor straight with the wood stick, or turn it left. To turn right I just released pressure on the wood stick and let the motor vibrate it's way to that direction.

No more of that I think.
