Parts for Terhi/Valmet

One of my friends just achieved a 15 Hp outboard with the mark "Terhi" and 15 HP on the hood. <br />Terhi i usually a boat brand from Sweden og Finland.<br /><br />On the type plate on starboard of leg it says "Valmet" Brand.<br /><br />It starts, runs and iddles great, but the plastic starter drive on the starter is totally worn down, he has to remove hood and rope start it on flywheel. Does anyone know where to get a new drive ?

Valmet also has a connection to Volvo. A motor branded Terhi may come from a rebranded Volvo Penta outboard, sold as a bundle.<br /><br />Google returns 157 mainly Finnish hits on a search for both words.

Hi UU ( Steen ? )<br />Thanks for reply.<br /><br />Unfortunately this motor doesnt look like the Volvo Penta 150 ( Arkimedes Penta really )<br /><br />Starter drive is on seperate axel like Evinrude 6-9.9.<br /><br />Which words did you match to get 157 hits ?

Hello both,<br /><br />I have the complete history of the swedish outboards in a book.<br /><br />Elektrolux OB became Cresent OB around 1961 and Cresent became Volvo Penta (blue cover) and Arcimedes Penta(Red cover)in 1973 Arcimedes and Volvo penta was the same outboard from 1973 (like Johnson/Evinrude).<br /><br />Production stopped in December 1979.<br /><br />Terhi was a Finnish brand - it have no connection to Volvo Penta OBs according to the book (Svenska Utombordsmotorer)

Hi Enn<br /><br />Thanks for the information.<br /><br />Do you know anywhere i can get the starterdrive for my friend. The motor looks good and very simple. In an earlyer thread you mentioned you bought parts directly in USA for OMC. I tried that too. Is there any companies you can recommend ? Email mee at salg@romantiskbad.dk

Thanks to everybody.<br /><br />I contacted Terhis Service department in Finland, they helped my to a company who has at least some stock left of the parts. Waiting for reply now.
