Hi guys, I have a 1956 30 hp evinrude with a long shaft it is on a boat that takes a short shaft. I just bought a 1957 18 hp evinrude and my question is will the componets needed to make the change from long shaft to short shaft between the two motors interchange? I don't know wether or not i'm going to do it but just wondering. The 30 hp I have not been able to make it run right as some of you have responded to my posts. I may just have to put the 18 hp on the boat. I want to thank you guys for all your help in the past and I'm sure I will need help in the future. I don't know much about these motors but I'm learning as I go. They are addicting. I now have two and am looking at a 1953 model next week. Anyway thanks guys. I do think I found my problem with my 30 hp and got it corrected. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow. Again thanks.
