Back story: Outdrive went last season stored the boat as is and picked up a complete replacement drive over the winter. assuming the outdrive itself is perfect what seals, gaskets, lube, adhesive, etc. is necessary to complete the swap. the previous owner of the drive gave me a new outdrive-to-bellhousing gasket. just looking for what ever tips are available to make this swap as easy as it appears to be.

Thanks in advance.

Just make sure the controls and the drive are both in forward gear. Fitting the drive shouldn't take more than about 10 minutes...

assuming the outdrive itself is perfect

that is probably why your old drive failed

do yourself a favor and pressure test the replacement drive before filling with lube and installing

even new drives have faulty seals in 'em

Might want to consider borrowing or buying an alignment tool while you are at it. Remove all doubt. Also spline grease, 2-4-c lube, and some instructions (found in the adults only section of this forum). Good luck and fun boating ahead!

Get the gasket set. It includes the big rubber gasket that goes inside the bell housing the O-ring for the water port and new o-rings for the gimbal bearing. No sealer on the gasket, use Gaskacinch to hold the water port o-ring on and to glue the big rubber seal inside the gimbal housing. Do use an alignment tool to make sure the coupler is aligned. If it is not you will be pulling the engine soon to replace it ($300 part).
Spline grease not just some grease.
